SEN Teaching Assistant - Autism (Primary School)
Location: Canning Town
Pay: £95-£115 per day

We are looking for a committed and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join a specialist ASD primary school in Canning Town. This role involves supporting pupils with autism across the primary age range, helping them access learning in a structured, nurturing and highly supportive environment.

The successful candidate will work closely with teachers and therapists to support pupils' communication, behaviour and independence, using consistent routines and tailored strategies.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide one-to-one and small group support for pupils with autism

Support communication using visuals, symbols, PECS or other AAC methods

Assist with structured routines and transitions throughout the school day

Promote positive behaviour and emotional regulation

Support learning through practical and sensory-based activities

Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists and the wider SEN team

Support personal care where required

Requirements:

Experience supporting children with autism (school or care setting)

Understanding of sensory needs and structured learning approaches

Confident, patient and consistent approach

Comfortable working as part of a team

Willingness to support personal care

Strong communication and safeguarding awareness
