An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Shift Electrician to join a busy and well-established heavy industrial manufacturing facility. This role is ideal for a self-motivated professional who takes pride in maintaining plant uptime and carrying out all aspects of electrical maintenance, inspection, and compliance.

Role Overview

You will be responsible for routine electrical maintenance, breakdown support, statutory compliance, and inspection activities across a 24/7 operational site. The successful candidate will be expected to work independently with minimal supervision, ensuring all work is completed efficiently, safely, and in line with industry regulations.

Responsibilities

• Conduct electrical inspections in line with statutory requirements and internal maintenance schedules.
• Carry out fault finding and electrical installations from drawings and specifications.
• Ensure timely actioning of defects identified during statutory inspections.
• Maintain plant uptime through effective electrical maintenance practices.
• Uphold high standards of safety, quality, and tidiness on site.
• Collaborate with team members and assist with minor mechanical or building-related tasks where necessary.

Skills & Experience

• NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installation (or approved equivalent).
• Completion of a recognised electrical apprenticeship or equivalent training.
• Experience in electrical maintenance and installation in an industrial environment.
• Competence and qualification in inspection, testing, and commissioning (e.g. City & Guilds 2391).
• Strong working knowledge of I.E.E. Wiring Regulations (BS 7671), the Electricity at Work Regulations 1989, and relevant British Standards and Codes of Practice.
• IT literacy including SAP is advantageous.
• Organised, proactive, and a strong problem solver.
• Excellent communicator with a clear, direct style.
• Team-oriented and supportive, with the ability to build trust and respect across all levels.
