Company: FITURA

Job Type: Contract

Salary: Negotiable depending on experience

For one of our market leading clients in Schiphol, I'm recruiting for Safety Expert (HSE).

Overview
We are looking for a Safety Expert to ensure that safety is thoroughly safeguarded within our construction projects (in terms of content) and among project staff (in terms of knowledge and behavior). You will join an HSE team within the Construction Management department, where togetherness, atmosphere, and collegiality are highly valued. We encourage and support continuous professional development.

Your Role and Responsibilities
As a Safety Specialist in the Construction Management team, you support the project teams in the areas of (construction) safety, health, and environment (SHE). We rely on your enthusiasm, determination, and ability to convince others of your vision while overcoming obstacles. Your key responsibilities include:

  • Reviewing and updating Health and Safety plans and work plans.
  • Monitoring compliance with relevant laws and regulations (Occupational Health and Safety Act, Building Decree, etc.).
  • Conducting safety inspections at project locations.
  • Identifying risks and advising on control measures.
  • Promoting a proactive safety culture through coaching and communication.
  • Registering, analyzing, and reporting incidents and near misses.
  • Collaborating with project teams to integrate safety from design to delivery.

You will translate corporate safety policy into specific construction safety policies and ensure their implementation in projects. The focus will be primarily on civil engineering works, such as infrastructure, roads, drainage, lighting, and electrical substations.

About the Department and Business Unit
You will be part of a team that conceives, builds, and manages physical and digital assets, contributing to the ambition of being a high-quality and sustainable organization. This involves delivering projects, improving working conditions (e.g., using robots and lifting equipment), electrifying assets, and making crucial operational areas and climate systems more sustainable.

The wider organization has a significant social mission, creating value for society and the economy. We aim to be the preferred choice for clients and logistics partners, driven by a commitment to sustainability and quality. The Finance department also plays a role in this by maintaining control over corporate finances, capital investments, and related risks to ensure an optimal financial process.

What You Bring
You remain fully focused on your goals, even when facing distractions or setbacks. You are open to feedback and new knowledge. For this position, you must have:

  • Secondary Safety Engineering (MVK) Course certification.
  • Knowledge of relevant laws and regulations.
  • At least 3 to 5 years of work experience in a similar HSE position within construction and infrastructure projects.
  • Strong communication skills to build support for safety measures.
  • The courage to intervene and escalate safety issues when necessary.
