SEN Learning Support Assistant

Prospero Teaching is looking for a compassionate and reliable SEN Learning Support Assistant to work in schools in the Salisbury area. This long‑term role focuses on supporting pupils who have additional needs such as autism, ADHD, communication difficulties, learning delays, or social and emotional challenges.

You will work closely with teaching staff to provide consistent, patient support throughout the school day. Your role will help pupils access learning, build confidence, regulate emotions, and develop positive relationships within a structured and supportive environment.

This opportunity is perfect for individuals with experience in SEN, care, support work, youth settings, or graduates looking to gain meaningful experience in education, psychology, or child‑related careers.

The Role:

Deliver 1:1 support and small‑group assistance for pupils with SEN
Help students engage with lessons and classroom activities
Support emotional regulation, confidence‑building, and behaviour strategies
Assist with routines, transitions, and adapted learning tasks
Encourage independence and positive social interaction
Work alongside teachers, SENCOs, and support teams

Ideal Candidate:

Experience working with children or vulnerable individuals
Calm, patient, and confident supporting additional needs
Strong communication and teamwork skills
Able to build positive, trusting relationships with pupils
Adaptable and reliable in a school setting
Passionate about supporting pupils who need extra guidance
Psychology, education, or child‑related graduates encouraged to apply

Contract Details:

Position: SEN Learning Support Assistant
Location: Salisbury
Start Date: ASAP
Hours: Full‑time, term‑time
Pay Rate: £14.66 - £15.66 per hour
Contract Type: Long‑term

Experience, Training & Safeguarding:

Experience with children or SEN desirable
Safeguarding training can be provided
Understanding of SEN strategies beneficial

Eligibility:

Right to work in the UK
Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain one)
Two suitable references
