Quantity Surveyor - Groundworks / Civil Engineering | Bridgwater, Somerset | Permanent Role

We're partnering with a well-established civil engineering and groundworks contractor to recruit a Quantity Surveyor for a major project in Bridgwater. This is a permanent opportunity offering long-term stability, career development, and the chance to work on a significant infrastructure scheme with a respected regional contractor.

The Role

As Quantity Surveyor, you'll take commercial ownership of packages across a busy civil engineering project. You'll be responsible for managing costs, contracts, and subcontractor accounts, ensuring financial efficiency and value throughout the project lifecycle.

Key responsibilities include:

Preparing, managing, and agreeing valuations, variations, and final accounts

*

Subcontract procurement, negotiation, and management

*

Cost forecasting, budgeting, and reporting to senior management

*

Supporting project teams with commercial advice and risk management

*

Ensuring compliance with company procedures and contract conditions

*

Liaising with clients, consultants, and site teams to maintain strong working relationships

What We're Looking For

*

Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor within groundworks or civil engineering

*

Strong knowledge of standard forms of contract (NEC experience advantageous)

*

Excellent analytical and negotiation skills

*

Commercially astute with a proactive approach to problem-solving

*

HNC/D or degree in Quantity Surveying or Civil Engineering (or equivalent)

*

Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel to site as required
