Electrical Operations & Maintenance Engineer Required

Our client is a well-established, independent company with over 20 years in the industry. They set up to deliver strategic objectives which, at the time, were mainly focused on tackling climate change through carbon reduction. This is a new permanent role within the company, created in response to growth in the pipeline and is intended to provide the opportunity for career progression within the business through training and development. The role is based at their HQ in Woking with occasional work at their second site in Milton Keynes.

The successful Mechanical Operations & Maintenance Engineer will be a reliable, ambitious individual with experience in operating and servicing power generating plant, electrical distribution, pumped heat, and chilled water systems. You will have strong verbal and written communication skills along with being able to organise and manage time effectively. This position would be highly suitable for someone who is enthusiastic for continuous improvement, both personally & professionally.

Electrical Operations & Maintenance Engineer - Position Overview

* The principal purpose of the role is to operate and maintain our Mechanical/Electrical plant and equipment within the energy centres and network customers' premises.

* Service, diagnose faults and repair a wide range of plant with particular emphasis on Electrical plant associated with pumping, control, heat recovery, SCADA readouts, and PLC control.

* Working to a high technical standard in compliance with statutory requirements and with regard to health and safety, the role is responsible for ensuring a high level of availability of plant and equipment, maintaining uninterrupted supply of energy to customers, and keeping customer requirements at the forefront of the operational processes.

* Specific responsibility for the continued operation of fixed internal combustion engines Including gas powered CHP direct coupled power generation equipment and diesel standby generators.

* Monitoring and operating cooling towers (including water dosing equipment) in line with the legionella management system and HSE guidance.

* General electrical engineering input into projects and tasks additional to Operation and

* Maintenance activities, including plant replacement, new customer connections and network extensions

* Ensuring health and safety of everybody is paramount in all activities

* Ensuring compliance with all relevant industry statutory instruments and safety procedures including electrical, gas combustion, pressure vessel, hot water services, water storage and hygiene

* Championing compliance with industry best practice procedures, continuous improvement strategy, condition monitoring maintenance procedures, and Legionella

* Robustly supporting a permanent team of electrical and mechanical engineering staff operating two principal CHP energy stations in Woking, multiple customer plant rooms and outlying sites generating approximately 15GWh/year district heat, power, and chilled water

* To source suppliers, specify requirements and ensure delivery on time, to agreed cost and required quality

Electrical Operations & Maintenance Engineer - Position Requirements

* A strong understanding of plant operation & maintenance

* Relevant service delivery within the energy industry.

* Experience of working with PLC/SCADA systems

* Experience in maintenance & repair for commercial pumps, motors & valves

* Willing to learn and become competent with the installed systems operating systems through SCADA interface

* BS 7671 Electrical Wiring Regulations (current edition)

* Relevant Electrical qualifications to C&G or NVQ standard, relevant apprenticeship / qualification in electrical engineering.

* C&G 2382 Electrical Wiring Regulations (current edition)

* IOSH Working safely or similar

* Highly familiar with safe maintenance procedures for planned preventative maintenance.

* A working knowledge of Microsoft packages

* Experience in small and large district heating networks

* Salary: £30K - £35K

* Hours: Mon-Fri 7:30 - 4:30
