As an Electrical Design Engineer specializing in building services in Southampton, your primary responsibility will be to design and develop electrical systems for various building projects. Your expertise will contribute to the successful implementation of electrical infrastructure while ensuring compliance with regulations and industry standards.

Responsibilities:

Electrical System Design: Collaborate with project stakeholders, architects, and clients to understand project requirements and develop comprehensive electrical system designs. This includes power distribution, lighting, fire alarm, security, communication, and HVAC control systems.

Compliance and Regulations: Ensure all electrical designs adhere to relevant codes, standards, and regulations, such as the IET Wiring Regulations (BS 7671), Building Regulations, and local building codes. Conduct thorough reviews and assessments to ensure compliance with safety and sustainability requirements.

Technical Documentation: Create detailed electrical drawings, schematics, and layouts using computer-aided design (CAD) tools, such as AutoCAD. Prepare accurate technical documentation, including bills of materials, specifications, and equipment schedules.

Calculation and Analysis: Perform technical calculations such as electrical load calculations, voltage drop analysis, short circuit calculations, and energy efficiency assessments. Analyze and interpret data to determine optimal system requirements and equipment selection.

Collaboration and Coordination: Work closely with multidisciplinary teams, including architects, structural engineers, mechanical engineers, and contractors, to coordinate electrical design activities. Provide technical guidance and support throughout the project lifecycle, including construction and commissioning phases.

Project Management: Manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring timely completion within budget constraints. Monitor project progress, conduct site visits, and resolve design-related issues to ensure adherence to design intent.
