A Fantastic Opportunity for an Experienced or Aspiring SEN Learning Support Assistant Are you passionate about supporting children with additional needs? Looking for a long-term role where you can make a real impact in a highly supportive school?
We're recruiting five high quality Learning Support Assistants for an exceptional SEN school in Pontefract. The school supports children aged 5-16 with autism, communication needs (including non-verbal pupils), sensory needs, medical needs and complex learning difficulties.

What You Will Be Doing -
Working 1:1 and in small groups with pupils who require high levels of support

Supporting children with autism and communication needs using visuals, Makaton, PECS and sensory strategies

Helping pupils regulate emotions and manage behaviour in a nurturing, structured way

Assisting with personal care and basic medical needs (full training provided)

Using sensory play, routine-based learning and communication systems

Working collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, therapists and behaviour specialists
What We're Looking For -
Experience supporting children or young people with SEND

Understanding of autism, communication differences or SEMH
-
A calm, patient, resilient and caring attitude

Reliable, consistent and committed to full-time work

Local to Pontefract or willing to travel from Doncaster (drivers encouraged)

Backgrounds in SEN, youth work, care, psychology, criminology or support work are highly desirable
