Our nurturing environment is built on respect, resilience, and a commitment to helping every pupil thrive.The RoleWe are seeking a compassionate and skilled Level 2 SEN Teaching Assistant to join our dedicated team. This role is ideal for someone with a background in social care, particularly in supporting adults or children with SEN needs. You will work closely with class teachers and other professionals to provide tailored support that enables pupils to access learning, develop independence, and achieve their full potential.Key Responsibilities
- Provide one-to-one and small group support to pupils with a range of SEN needs
- Implement individual education plans and behaviour support strategies
- Assist with personal care and mobility needs where required
- Support pupils in developing social, emotional, and communication skills
- Help create a safe, stimulating, and inclusive learning environment
- Liaise with families, therapists, and external agencies as needed
- Contribute to the planning and delivery of differentiated learning activities
- Monitor and record pupil progress and behaviour
Person SpecificationEssentials:
- Level 2 Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent
- Experience working in social care or supporting individuals with SEN
- Strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to remain calm, patient, and flexible in challenging situations
- Commitment to promoting inclusion and equality
Desirable:
- Experience in a special school or SEN setting
- Knowledge of autism, ADHD, and other neurodiverse conditions
- Training in Team Teach, Makaton, PECS, or similar approaches
- First Aid certification
