Job Title: Bookkeeper / Accounts Assistant
Location: Biggleswade
Salary: £30,000 - £40,000
Job Overview:We are looking for a proactive and detail-driven Bookkeeper to join our team within a thriving construction client environment. The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records and supporting the finance function in a fast-paced, hands-on role.
Key Responsibilities:Record all financial transactions including income, expenses, sales, and purchases
Maintain general ledgers and ensure data accuracy
Reconcile bank and credit card statements
Process supplier invoices and customer payments
Manage accounts payable and receivable
Prepare financial reports (P&L, balance sheet, cash flow)
Track and manage petty cash transactions
Support budgeting and assist in maintaining the annual company budget
Prepare information for audits and liaise with external accountants as needed
Enter and manage data using accounting software and Excel
Provide general support to the wider team with financial administration
Requirements:Proven experience in a similar bookkeeping or finance role
Strong working knowledge of accounting software (e.g. Xero, Sage, QuickBooks)
High attention to detail and strong numerical skills
Excellent organizational and communication abilities
Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
Previous experience in the construction industry is desirable but not essential
AAT-qualified or working towards an accounting qualification (preferred)
