Location: Biggleswade
Salary: £30,000 - £40,000

Job Overview:

We are looking for a proactive and detail-driven Bookkeeper to join our team within a thriving construction client environment. The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records and supporting the finance function in a fast-paced, hands-on role.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Record all financial transactions including income, expenses, sales, and purchases

  • Maintain general ledgers and ensure data accuracy

  • Reconcile bank and credit card statements

  • Process supplier invoices and customer payments

  • Manage accounts payable and receivable

  • Prepare financial reports (P&L, balance sheet, cash flow)

  • Track and manage petty cash transactions

  • Support budgeting and assist in maintaining the annual company budget

  • Prepare information for audits and liaise with external accountants as needed

  • Enter and manage data using accounting software and Excel

  • Provide general support to the wider team with financial administration



Requirements:
  • Proven experience in a similar bookkeeping or finance role

  • Strong working knowledge of accounting software (e.g. Xero, Sage, QuickBooks)

  • High attention to detail and strong numerical skills

  • Excellent organizational and communication abilities

  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities

  • Previous experience in the construction industry is desirable but not essential

  • AAT-qualified or working towards an accounting qualification (preferred)
