Creating safe, inclusive and high-performing spaces for student life.
Royal Holloway Students’ Union exists to make student life better. We’re a dynamic, student-led charity supporting over 12,600 members through services, representation, and vibrant campus experiences. From our venues and events to our advice centre and campaigns, we’re here to empower students and create a thriving community.
We’re now seeking a Building Services Manager to lead the operational delivery of our buildings and facilities, ensuring they are safe, well-maintained, and fit for purpose. This is a key leadership role within our Commercial and Building Services team, reporting to the Head of Commercial Operations and responsible for facilities, maintenance, cleaning, reception, and health & safety.
You’ll play a pivotal role in shaping our physical spaces to support our strategic goals; ensuring they are inclusive, accessible, and welcoming for all students, staff, and visitors.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Leading the delivery of building maintenance, cleaning, reception, and security services.
- Managing health and safety policy, compliance, and risk mitigation across RHSU operations.
- Overseeing capital investment planning and budget management for building services.
- Supporting the delivery of large-scale events and campaigns through safe and effective space management.
- Acting as the Union’s lead on emergency response planning and business continuity.
- Building strong relationships with the University Estates Team and external contractors.
About you:
You’ll bring a strong background in facilities or building services management, with experience leading teams and delivering complex operational projects. You’ll be NEBOSH or IOSH qualified, and confident in managing health and safety compliance. Your leadership style will be collaborative and values-driven, with a focus on innovation, inclusivity, and continuous improvement.
Experience in a student-focused or charitable environment is desirable, but not essential. What matters most is your ability to create safe, high-quality spaces that support our mission to make student life better.
