Children's Residential Childcare Worker - Full Time ?
Location: Derby (Littleover/Mickleover)
Salary: £30,950 - £33,030 OTE (including sleep-ins + up to £300 shift bonus)
Hours: 40 hours/week on an alternate week shift pattern (includes sleep-ins/on-call)
Holidays: 14 days per annumContract: Full Time, Permanent

We're looking for dedicated Residential Childcare Workers to support young people aged 8-17 in Ofsted-registered homes. This is more than a job - it's a chance to shape futures, provide stability, and be a trusted role model.


What You'll Be Doing:
  • Creating a safe, supportive and nurturing environment for children with emotional and behavioural needs.
  • Promoting positive development - educational, emotional, and social.
  • Participating in daily life - including meal preparation, cleaning, outings, and educational activities.
  • Supporting personal care, behaviour management, and building healthy routines.
  • Writing reports and updating individual care plans.
  • Liaising with families, professionals, and agencies to provide joined-up care.
  • Engaging in physical outdoor activities, trips, and appointments with young people.

About You:
  • Hold a QCF Level 3 or 4 in Residential Childcare, or NVQ Level 3 Children & Young People (or equivalent).
  • Have experience in residential care and working with children with complex needs.
  • Possess a Full UK Driving Licence (essential).
  • Comfortable managing challenging behaviour and using de-escalation and intervention techniques safely.
  • Strong communicator - both written and verbal.
  • Calm, enthusiastic, patient and a positive role model.

Training & Support:
  • Ongoing CPD including training in Safeguarding, Behaviour Management, First Aid, and Fire Safety.
