Payroll Senior - Growing Regional Accountancy Firm

The Opportunity:

As a Payroll Senior, you'll take ownership of a varied and complex client portfolio. Your role will go beyond standard processing — you'll act as a trusted advisor, mentor junior team members, and play a key part in driving quality, compliance, and process improvement within the payroll function.

What You'll Be Doing:

* Managing the end-to-end processing of complex client payrolls

* Handling gross pay calculations, deductions, statutory payments, pensions, and year-end reporting

* Acting as the lead point of contact for your portfolio, building trusted relationships

* Supporting, reviewing, and mentoring junior staff

* Ensuring compliance with UK payroll legislation, GDPR, HMRC, and TPR requirements

* Identifying opportunities to improve processes and drive efficiency

* Staying updated on legislation and payroll software best practices

What You'll Bring:

* 3-5+ years of payroll experience, ideally within accountancy or bureau environments

* Strong knowledge of complex payroll scenarios and legislation

* Experience with Iris - Ideal.

* Excellent attention to detail and confidence managing client expectations

* Proficiency in payroll software and advanced Excel skills

* Experience in reviewing work and guiding junior team members

* A proactive, solutions-driven mindset
