Job Description

This role is with one of our customers in the San Francisco Bay Area looking for a General Counsel to lead their legal team. The company is a fast growth late stage Technology startup. They're open to experienced candidates being remote permanently with expected travel.


  • Engage directly with leadership to understand company priorities and goals, trends in our business, and understanding the entire scope of our business.

  • Establish best practices for company securities compliance and corporate governance.

  • Lead all aspects of commercial contracts, product decisions, technology transactions; privacy and data security matters; labor and employment and litigation matters; diversity and inclusion functions, stock administration functions, as well as legal operations; intellectual property; real estate; and mergers and acquisitions.

  • Provide legal advice and direction in new product development.

  • Create high quality and timely legal services, processes, and systems across the company—including selection and retention of outside counsel.

  • Lead a team of 10 legal professionals and help with growing and developing the team.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Current member in good standing of a state bar, preferably California

  • 10+ years of experience leading the legal function and team as GC or DGC at a either a late stage startup or publicly traded technology company, preferably in SaaS, cloud, software, etc.

  • Ability to communicate high level concepts in a way that anyone in the organization can understand.

  • Ability to calculate risk to support innovation while protecting the company

  • Have partnered with all levels of the organization. Board Members, Executive Team, Product, Recruiting etc.

  • Strong communication skills.

  • A bias towards action over indecision.
