Registered Manager – Children’s Residential Home
Location: Flexible – Primarily based in one Home, with occasional support to others as needed
Hours: 40 hours per week (including evenings, weekends, and on-call duties as required)
Salary: Competitive + Performance-Related Pay
Leave: 28 days annual leave + Bank Holidays

Mileage: Reimbursed at an agreed rate for business use
Probation: 6-month probationary period
Notice Period: 3 months post-probation

About the Role
We’re ideally looking for a dedicated Registered Manager in Hyde for 2 homes next door to each other there will be 6 children in total 4 in one and 2 in the other. Ideally, we want one manager to dual over the 2 homes. Its boys only homes from age 8-18 yrs and EBD.
The Registered Manager ensure the highest standards of care are delivered to the young people we support. This is a pivotal role, requiring emotional resilience, effective leadership, and a passion for helping children and young people thrive.
You will be the designated Registered Manager under the Children’s Homes Regulations and responsible for maintaining compliance with all relevant standards and legislation. The home offers medium to long-term placements for children and young people, and your leadership will ensure it provides a safe, nurturing, and enriching environment.
You’ll oversee daily operations, drive service improvements, lead a dedicated team, and ensure our Statement of Purpose is consistently upheld.
Key ResponsibilitiesLeadership & Service Management
- Lead and manage the day-to-day operations of the Home
- Ensure compliance with all relevant legislation and internal policies
- Implement the Home’s Statement of Purpose and strategic development plans
- Lead with integrity, promoting a culture of excellence, accountability, and positive outcomes
- Represent the Home during Ofsted inspections and ensure preparedness at all times
- Chair team meetings, contribute to corporate planning, and participate in the on-call rota
Team Management
- Supervise and support Deputy Manager, Team Leaders, and Residential Care Workers
- Ensure all staff receive appropriate induction, supervision, training, and appraisal
- Foster a culture of learning and development, coaching team members to excel
- Manage recruitment, performance, and HR processes in collaboration with leadership
- Organise staffing rotas to meet the needs of young people effectively
Child-Focused Care
- Promote therapeutic, safe, and child-centred care practices
- Ensure every child has a tailored placement plan and access to key services (health, education, therapy)
- Oversee safeguarding and child protection, ensuring best practice at all times
- Encourage positive relationships and participation from children and young people
Quality Assurance & Compliance
- Maintain accurate records and documentation required by regulatory bodies
- Conduct audits, inspections, and quality assurance checks to drive continuous improvement
- Manage the Home’s budget and resources responsibly
- Monitor KPIs and contribute to the organisation’s governance and compliance reporting
Health & Safety
- Ensure full adherence to health & safety policies and procedures
- Maintain a safe, well-kept environment for staff and residents
- Oversee fire drills, building checks, and incident/accident reporting
About YouEssential Qualifications & Experience
- Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health & Social Care (Children & Young People) – or willingness to complete within 3 years
- At least 1 year as a Registered Manager in a children’s residential setting
- Strong background in residential childcare with supervisory experience
- Proven leadership and team development skills
- In-depth knowledge of Children’s Homes Regulations, National Minimum Standards, safeguarding procedures, and child protection
Desirable
- Social Work Qualification
- Assessing qualifications (A1, D32/33)
- Train the Trainer / Supervision Training
- Experience with therapeutic approaches
