Our client a leading real estate firm in London are seeking a Property Accountant to join their finance department, supporting one of their key portfolios.
This role is crucial for maintaining smooth accounting functions and providing comprehensive financial support within the UK Finance Team.
The successful candidate will be instrumental in ensuring timely financial processes including month-end closings, balance sheet reconciliations, and management reporting.
This role will suit a recently qualified Accountant with 1-2 years’ experience within property/real estate related accounting
Day-to-day of the role:
- Provide financial accounting, management reporting, and business partnering support.
- Assist the Finance Manager in reviewing/preparing timely and high-quality monthly management reporting packs and balance sheet reconciliations.
- Prepare monthly cash flow forecasts and conduct variance analysis (budget vs actuals).
- Assist with the preparation of tax reports including VAT, corporation tax, and ensure HMRC compliance.
- Prepare full-year financial reporting and statutory reporting for the group of companies.
- Support the Finance Manager in ensuring adherence to financial controls and accuracy of transaction processing.
- Contribute to the success of ongoing finance system implementations.
- Drive process improvements across the company and create a robust financial controls framework.
- Manage Property and Entity Accounts for all assets under management, including cash flow.
- Assist the Finance Team with other ad-hoc tasks and projects as required, ensuring internal control and compliance.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- ACCA/CIMA qualified Accountant (or equivalent) with up to 2 years post-qualification experience.
- Minimum of 2 years’ relevant financial experience in the real estate industry - Student Property be highly regarded.
- Proficient in MS Excel.
- Strong knowledge of local accounting standards and IFRS.
- Excellent communication skills, capable of effectively interacting at all levels across the company.
- Analytical, with high attention to detail and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong interpersonal skills, able to interface with colleagues internally and on a cross-border/remote basis and third parties.
