About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Children with Disabilities (CWD) Social Worker to join a forward-thinking local authority team in the North West of England. This is an ongoing contract position offering competitive pay at £38.18 per hour. You will work with children and young people who have disabilities and additional needs, supporting them and their families to improve outcomes and ensure their wellbeing and safety.

Key Responsibilities

Conduct thorough assessments of children with disabilities, considering their individual needs and circumstances.

Develop and implement robust care and support plans tailored to each child and family.

Work collaboratively with families, carers, health professionals, education providers, and other stakeholders to coordinate support services.

Monitor the progress of children and families, regularly reviewing plans and adjusting support as necessary.

Advocate on behalf of children with disabilities to ensure access to appropriate services and resources.

Attend and contribute to multi-agency meetings, safeguarding conferences, and case reviews.

Ensure all work complies with relevant legislation, policies, and safeguarding procedures.

Maintain accurate, detailed records and prepare reports as required.

Support children to have their voices heard in decision-making processes.

Provide advice, guidance, and support to families and carers to build resilience and independence.

Required Skills and Qualifications

Professional qualification in Social Work (DipSW, CQSW, or equivalent).

Current registration with Social Work England.

Experience working with children with disabilities and complex needs.

Strong understanding of relevant legislation, including the Children Act 1989/2004, the SEND Code of Practice, and the Care Act.

Excellent assessment, planning, and case management skills.

Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with empathy and sensitivity.

Commitment to promoting safeguarding and child protection principles.

Experience with electronic case management systems and Microsoft Office.

Full UK driving licence desirable but not essential.
