An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Vessel Manager/Marine Superintendent to join our world leading geophysical survey department based at our waterfront office in Portchester on the UK’s south coast. The successful applicant will be directly responsible for the safe and efficient operation of two nearshore 12m survey catamarans working within Europe and the management of a 60m seasonal charter vessel under ISM ; The role also includes direct line management of five members of the vessel team. This role offers the opportunity to gain exposure to a variety of markets including offshore renewables, UXO investigation, O&G asset integrity and would suit an offshore marine professional or those already in a shore-based management position. Key Responsibilities: The duties and responsibilities associated with this position include, but are not limited to the following: Overall management of the vessels department including strategic guidance and direction to Vessel Masters and Vessels Assistant. Oversee and review effective mechanisms for ensuring that all applicable maritime and terrestrial health, safety and environmental legislation is always complied with on owned or chartered vessels and that client HSE requirements are met. Maintain a central equipment tracking and preventive maintenance system for the vessels. Implement a requisition system for marine staff facilitating the efficient procurement and stock of required items. Author, review and update marine operating procedures and risk assessments within the company or ISM systems. Provide planning, technical and managerial expertise to vessel improvements, repairs/maintenance, including dry-docking, refits and major fabrication works. Plan with Vessel Masters scheduled vessel maintenance to minimise impact on geophysical survey schedule. Act as Designated Person Ashore. Carry out regular vessel visits to communicate with Vessel Masters and undertake vessel inspections. Develop annual operating budgets and deliver operations within the budget. Qualifications: (Any of the below) A Bachelor’s degree in a related subject such as Engineering or Naval Architecture. Previous experience as assistant or vessel superintendent Previous experience as Master 200 or similar. Previous experience as Chief Engineer or well experienced 2nd Engineer. Key Skills: Essential:Detailed knowledge and experience of requirements covered by ISM, ISO 9001 and ISO 14000; Good English language skills, both verbal and written; Excellent attention to detail, quality and safety; Able to travel to vessel visits for face to face communication, vessel inspections and management of repairs and refits; Familiarity with technical management systems; Commercial acumen and budgetary management experience; Offshore :Experience managing a fleet of Workboat Coded vessels; Experience managing ISM vessels; Experience in line management; We offer: As the world’s largest integrator of geotechnical, survey, subsea and geosciences services, we offer talented individuals almost unlimited growth potential.
