Job Title: Personal Assistant/Support Worker Location: West Meads, Bognor Regis Hourly rate: £ ; Reference: VC6942 Hours/shifts: Around 11 hours per week to be worked on Mondays, Wednesdays & Fridays early afternoon (as mutually agreed).
Additional hours may become ; Some weekend work will also be required, again by mutual ; Your approach to the work schedule should be flexible enough to suit my socialisation requirements.
The proposed hours could be adjusted to suit the right candidate.
Summary: I have a vacancy for an enthusiastic, experienced (or inexperienced) to assist me in retaining my personal independence.
You will help with tasks in the home, accompany me in going out and about, motivate me and support me in exploring new interests.
Are you that person - reliable, trustworthy and adaptable? If so, will you consider working for 45 year old man with Primary Progressive MS, reliant on my wheelchair for mobility? The job may occasionally be challenging – I also have poor eyesight and some memory/recall issues - but ultimately I hope we will get along and form a mutual bond of trust and understanding.
Preferably a non-smoker as I have recently quit! Full training will be given as required.
I have secondary support from my parents and you will be directed by both of us.
Other Requirements
• Must have a clean UK driving licence and be prepared to drive me in my own mobility car
• Other : All applicants must be willing to undertake an Enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service check Successful applicants will be entitled to Holiday pay and will be issued employment contracts.
Description Typical duties Domestic - Changing bed linen as necessary Bed making General tidying, taking out rubbish and helping with the washing up Helping to keep equipment clean and in good condition Preparing meals, drinks and snacks as required Any other reasonable domestic task Personal Care: Catheter care/assistance if required Using the toilet if required Helping with buttons and fastenings if required Help with dispensing tablets Getting in and out of the wheelchair ('transferring') Mealtimes cutting up food, giving assistance to eat if required Assisting with Physiotherapy exercises Any other reasonable Personal Care task Social: Driving my mobility car to social activities and participating where appropriate Assistance to attend appointments, haircuts General socialising, being pro-active in suggesting activities, motivating me to participate Occasional shopping Person specification The successful applicant will be:
• Respectful of the employer’s privacy and confidentiality
• Reliable, with good time-keeping
• Have a UK driving licence and be willing to drive my Mobility car
• Able to both follow instructions and work on own initiative
• Hygienic, tidy minded and well organised
• Fit and healthy to undertake the required duties including lifting a wheelchair in and out of the car
• Patient, with excellent interpersonal skills
• Honest and cheerful
• Sensitive to the fact that you will be working at the employer's home:

• Able to speak and read English to a reasonable standard
