An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Interim Deputy Headteacher to join a Special School in Devon. The role will be starting immediately for the remainder of the academic year.

The school is preparing for an anticipated Ofsted inspection within the next 12 months and this is a pivotal leadership role focused on driving Quality of Education, Teaching & Learning, and securing sustainable improvement before inspection.

The Role

Lead and strengthen Quality of Education

Drive improvements in Teaching & Learning

Model outstanding classroom practice (light teaching commitment)

Support and challenge middle leadership

Embed consistency, high expectations, and clear accountability

Prepare the school confidently for Ofsted

You'll be joining a committed leadership team consisting of a Headteacher and two Assistant Headteachers. This is the school's first Deputy Headteacher post - a genuine opportunity to shape impact at senior level.

✔ Proven secondary leadership experience
✔ Strong background in SEMH settings
✔ Track record of rapid school improvement
✔ Confident Ofsted readiness experience
✔ Strategic thinker who leads by example
