A college in Gloucester is seeking committed and patient SEN Learning Support Assistants to join its dedicated Resources Base, supporting young people aged 16-19 with Autism and additional learning needs.

This provision focuses on life skills, communication, independence and real‑world readiness, offering a highly supportive environment where learners can grow in confidence and progress at their own pace.

This role is ideal for those with experience in care, SEN, behavioural support, youth work, or for graduates who are passionate about working with neurodiverse young people.

About the Role

As an SEN Learning Support Assistant, you will:

Provide 1:1 and small‑group support to students with Autism and additional needs
Assist with life‑skills sessions, including social skills and independence tasks
Support learners in classroom activities, practical workshops and community‑based sessions
Promote communication, routine, emotional regulation and confidence
Work alongside teachers, SEN staff and therapists to deliver tailored support
Help maintain a calm, structured and autism‑friendly learning environment
Encourage positive relationships, resilience and self‑esteem
Learners may require support with communication differences, social interaction, sensory needs, emotional regulation and understanding of day‑to‑day tasks.

Who We Are Looking For

Adult or child care
SEN or classroom support
Youth work, mentoring or residential care
Mental health or wellbeing roles
Support work with Autism or communication needs
We also welcome Psychology, Health & Social Care, Education and Criminology graduates looking to gain valuable experience in a specialist setting.
