About the Role


Birchwood childrens services are seeking a passionate and dedicated SEN Teacher to join our SEN school on a full-time basis. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching pupils across Key Stage 2 and Key Stage 3 with a range of special educational needs, ensuring they receive a tailored, high-quality education that enables them to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, deliver, and assess engaging lessons for KS2 and KS3 pupils with diverse needs, including ASD, ADHD, speech and language difficulties, and social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs.

  • Differentiate learning materials and use a range of strategies to ensure accessibility and progress for all learners.

  • Work collaboratively with teaching assistants, therapists, and external professionals to provide holistic support.

  • Maintain high expectations of pupil behaviour, achievement, and well being.

  • Develop strong relationships with parents and carers, fostering effective communication and partnerships.

  • Contribute to the wider life of the school and uphold its inclusive ethos.

Person Specification

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) - essential.

  • Experience working with pupils with SEN (in mainstream or special settings).

  • Knowledge of strategies and interventions that support SEND learners.

  • A patient, nurturing, and resilient approach.

  • Strong organisational and communication skills.

  • Commitment to ongoing professional development.
