Are you an experienced mechanical professional with a passion for leading vehicle maintenance operations? Our client is seeking a dedicated Workshop Manager to oversee our vehicle maintenance workshop, ensuring a safe, efficient, and customer-focused service.

About the Role:

As Workshop Manager, you will be responsible for the overall management of the vehicle maintenance operation. You will work closely with the Fleet General Manager to support strategic development and ensure the delivery of high-quality repairs and maintenance services. Your leadership will be crucial in creating a safe, productive, and cost-effective environment that meets all statutory and regulatory standards.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities:

* Oversee the vehicle maintenance operation and workshop, ensuring compliance with Operator Licence obligations, DVSA, Road Traffic Act, and Health and Safety at Work Act.

* Drive productivity improvements and cost reductions within agreed service standards, contributing to wider service enhancements.

* Develop and implement strategic business improvement plans for Fleet Services.

* Manage the workshop budget in line with financial regulations, developing systems to monitor costs and achieve performance KPIs.

* Foster effective relationships with Council Directorates, external partners, and agencies.

* Provide strong leadership to promote a high-performance culture focused on continuous improvement and efficiency.

* Ensure business continuity and manage risk effectively.

* Oversee the Inspection, MOT, and ATF facilities and staff, aiming to improve productivity and increase income.

* Maintain performance management reporting focused on delivering value and service excellence.

What We're Looking For:

* Recognised Mechanical Engineering qualification.

* Extensive knowledge of vehicle maintenance, Road Transport Legislation, and Health & Safety legislation within a workshop environment.

* Proven experience managing a workshop in the Commercial, Heavy Goods, or Plant sector.

* Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and manage a diverse, multi-skilled team.

* Excellent organisational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritise effectively.

* Strong communication skills, capable of building productive relationships.

* Experience in budget management and financial oversight.
