About the role in Social Care Direct
We are looking for an experienced, skilled, and committed Assessment and Enablement Officer with experience in adult social care to join Social Care Direct. Social Care Direct is a "front door" to Adult Social Services and the first point of contact for all initial enquiries about social care. The work in the team comprises of short term interventions, mainly over the phone, therefore identifying the presenting query as early as possible is essential in providing good quality social care.
Putting the person at the heart of the assessment and involving their families, friends and communities to help improve their lives and help them meet their goals. You will assess and review the care and support they have; and advise where they can access information, support and advocacy so that they have the maximum opportunity to regain their independence or become less dependent on other people or services.
As an Assessment and Enablement Officer in the team you will rotate between the following functions:
* Answering and processing phone calls
* Replying and processing emails from a generic team mailbox
* Carrying out case work on allocated cases

* You will have excellent communication skills and engage well with adults, carers and their families about their care needs and risks
* You will be resilient and resourceful and skilled in managing difficult conversations
* You will value a busy structured working day with the skills to help people express their stories on the telephone
* You will have the skills to multitask and work in a fast-moving complex environment
