Power Supply & Power Electronics Design

Design and develop high-current, high-stability power supplies for superconducting magnets and related systems
Design linear and switch-mode power converters (DC/DC, AC/DC, current-regulated supplies)
Develop precision current regulation and control loops with excellent stability and low ripple
Perform detailed control-loop analysis (Bode plots, phase margin, transient response)
Design protection circuits (over-current, over-voltage, ground fault, quench-related protection)
Select power semiconductors (IGBTs, MOSFETs, diodes), magnetics, and passive componentsMagnet System Support

Support powering, ramping, and steady-state operation of superconducting magnets
Understand magnet load characteristics, inductive energy storage, and fault conditions
Interface with quench detection and protection systems
Contribute to safe operating procedures and interlock systems
Support commissioning and troubleshooting of magnet power systemsControl & Digital Electronics

Design control electronics for power converters (analogue and digital)
Implement digital control using microcontrollers, DSPs, or FPGAs where appropriate
Develop interfaces for monitoring, diagnostics, and remote control
Support firmware integration and debugging in collaboration with embedded software engineersPCB Design & Hardware Integration

Design schematics and oversee PCB layout for power and control electronics, preferably with Mentor Graphics experience.
Apply best practices for high-current routing, creepage/clearance, grounding, and isolation
Address EMC/EMI challenges associated with high-power switching systems
Work closely with mechanical and thermal engineers to ensure effective cooling and packagingPrototyping, Testing & Commissioning

Build, test, and debug power electronics prototypes
Develop and execute test plans including load testing, thermal testing, and fault testing
Use laboratory and high-power test equipment (power analysers, oscilloscopes, current probes, HV test equipment)
Support system commissioning and on-site troubleshooting as requiredDocumentation & Compliance

Produce detailed design documentation, test reports, and operating manuals
Support compliance with relevant standards (e.g., electrical safety, EMC)
Generate BOMs and support component obsolescence management
Contribute to manufacturing documentation, DFM/DFT, and supplier technical engagement
