Our client is an established Alternative Provision providing a learning environment for permanently excluded students. Across their sites they deliver in a variety of learning settings including classroom, creative studios and farm environments.

Student places are offered from from key stages 1 - 4, with learning packages specific to the individual learner. They have a proven positive track record of developing young learners and in particular, setting up their next steps out of education by supporting their applications to further education and apprenticeship schemes.

Enhancing their offering, the AP will be recruiting to expand their team according to their local authority referrals. Their referrals have significantly increased over the last 12 months due to student progress and ultimately the success of their student outcomes when they move on from the setting.

This SEMH Teacher role will suit an experienced educator, whether an ECT (NQT) with prior education experience or an FQT experienced at working with children that have SEND relating to SEMH and that often display challenging behaviour. Key skills needed will include; ability to quickly build rapport with students & colleagues, excellent communication skills, strong organisational skills, ability to plan & deliver a varied & diverse curriculum (academic & vocational), a non-confrontational approach & manner, using positive behaviour management strategies to engage learners and being able in directing support staff to effectively work with students.

The successful applicant will be able to demonstrate empathy towards learners with difficult backgrounds that have other barriers to learning. Equally, someone with natural enthusiasm, able to inspire learners and motivate them to achieve their full potential will allow the AP to continue to expand their offering and offer other opportunities for staff development & progression.

Applications are invited from teachers that have experience of working with children that have difficult social backgrounds. Previous experience of working with learners that have these challenges and training in Team Teach or other positive behaviour strategies would be an advantage in being considered for this job opportunity. For the successful applicant, free Team Teach training would be offered.

Due to the somewhat remote nature of the school sites, it's essential that applicants have their own transport, business insurance (compensated) and the willingness to transport students if required (compensated.)

As Elementa is the recruiting partner all applicants still being considered for the role after pre-screening will be required to complete the registration process for both Elementa & the school. This includes full vetting & background checks and application for an Enhanced DBS Disclosure unless you have a current DBS on the update service. A clear DBS certificate is highly desirable however a positive DBS certificate is not an absolute barrier to being considered. All applicants will be promptly responded to
