Connect it Utility Services is a dynamic, family-owned business at the forefront of the UK's multi-utility sector. We specialise in delivering electric, gas, and water mains and service connections across the country. With a focus on innovation, efficiency, and exceptional service, we make utility connections simpler, faster, and more cost-effective for our clients.

As we continue to grow, we're looking for a Commercial Manager to take full ownership of all commercial activities across our delivery work streams. In this role, you will lead the commercial team and partner departments, overseeing every aspect of commercial and contract management, including reporting, payment applications, invoicing, change control, account management, supply chain, procurement, cost control, and the preparation of contractual documentation.

You will ensure robust commercial governance and drive revenue growth by delivering accurate monthly management reports and accounts to the Head of Commercial and Finance Director. Additionally, you'll play a key role in improving operational efficiency by refining manual and digital processes in collaboration with the commercial team, providing support and cover where needed, and applying newly acquired expertise to enhance performance and profitability.

Key skills:

* Oversee all commercial aspects of projects across the core business and Frameworks, ensuring delivery meets expected margins.

* Manage contracts throughout the business, including NEC, JCT, and bespoke agreements.

* Collaborating with team members, including business operatives, and utilising all company software systems to administer commercial processes.

* Act as a client-facing representative, engaging with customers to ensure effective commercial project delivery.

* Implement and enhance processes for monthly management reporting and project stage reviews.

* Supervise costing procedures and drive improvements in manual and software allocation processes.

* Manage and report on post-contract changes, ensuring optimal value from all variations, including design changes.

* Lead and support the commercial team, fostering staff development through daily activities and professional growth initiatives.

* Maintain and strengthen supply chain relationships with suppliers and customers.

* Assist the Head of Commercial with implementing or updating business-level processes and procedures as required.

* Conduct commercial elements of financial audits to ensure compliance and accuracy.

* Support and help manage tender processes for new contracts and Frameworks.

* Build strong collaborative relationships with technical and delivery teams while managing the commercial administration function.

* Demonstrate a proactive, team-oriented approach, with a commitment to success and progression within the business.

Qualifications and experience:

* Qualified in Quantity Surveying to at least NVQ level; a degree qualification is preferred.

* Professional accreditation (e.g., RICS) is desirable.

* Proficient in managing, collating, and storing data efficiently and logically to support best commercial practice.

* Competent in administering accounting systems and CRM portals.

* Strong communication skills with excellent interpersonal and organisational abilities.

* Proven ability to manage and lead staff effectively.

* Collaborative team player with the ability to engage at all levels of the organisation.

* Self-motivated and results-driven, with a proactive approach to implementing change and delivering outcomes.

* High attention to detail combined with exceptional time management skills.

Additional:

* Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Outlook, Excel, and Word.

* Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify issues and deliver effective solutions.

* Experience working with accounting systems and customer service software applications.
