We're excited to announce that Portfield Schools Sixth Form is growing! Due to our expansion, we've opened a brand new classroom and are now looking for Teaching Assistants to join our team.

“Reach” is our incredible sixth form provision, based at Airfield Road in Christchurch, which officially opened in March 2024. Reach offers a unique and tailored approach to further education, for our students aged between sixteen to eighteen years old.



The role

In this brand new class, you will join three other teaching assistants to help support eight students, aged between fifteen - nineteen years old, (key stage four and five), by developing a positive working relationship, to understanding their likes, dislikes and interests, so that all lessons are personalised.



Their learning is focused on developing independence and life skills to help prepare for adulthood. We achieve this by using three specialist pathways: Functional skills for English, Maths and Computing, The Kings Trust for Apprenticeship/work-based learning and ASDAN Personal Progress,



Our students at Reach get involved in a variety of activities that include: cooking, theatrical productions, barista training, music, football and many more. Each experience is designed to build confidence, develop skills and grow in a supportive environment.



We love celebrating all the amazing achievements here at Reach, whether it's painting a picture, preparing and trying new food, being able to solve a tricky maths equation or a short conversation with someone new.

Hours of work

Monday - 08:30am - 4pm

Tuesday - 08:30am - 4:30pm

Wednesday - 08:30am - 4pm

Thursday - 08:30am - 4pm

Friday - 08:30am - 3:30pm

To be successful as a Teaching Assistant, we are looking for someone who:

Can easily adapt themselves in different situations

* Has a fun and supportive nature

* Doesn't hesitate to play and get messy

* Displays a calm approach, even when under pressure

* Will support with personal care such as nappies and toilet training

* Can participate in any exercise and activities required

* Will use their initiative where needed
