Location: Shepshed, Leicestershire

Aeropeople have partnered with an aerospace, defence and energy company who are now looking to hire a Composite Laminator to be based at their site in Leicestershire.

The working hours for this role are 07:30- 16.15 Monday- Thursday and 07:30- 12:30 on Fridays. Overtime is available.

Main Responsibilities:

* Tool cleaning - polish and wash with MEK, preparation - assemble multi-part mould tools and internal silicon vacuum bags, apply even and uniform coats of release agents to mould surfaces and stove. As per instructions

* Decant, measure and mix resins and adhesives in accordance to Process sheets

* Lay plies of Cloth as per drawing and procedure sheets ensuring correct orientation, joint positions and overlaps are to drawing spec using measuring rules and templates.

* Application of film adhesives, cutting Aeroweb or nomex core from templates and drawing dimension, ensuring correct orientation, filling joints with foaming adhesive prior to vacuum bag.

* Measure, Cut and spot weld copper connectors and sensors and metallic inserts to drawing, templates and actual component.

* Clean and prepare jointing surfaces, measure and mark out component element zone boundaries, apply adhesives to unit and hand lay elements ensuring consistent gaps are achieved, thoroughly clean mating tails and spot weld, ensure all welds are conforming. Measure and record all individual zone resistances. On completion clean and check unit for contamination and or foreign bodies.

* Apply by hand cure stack, make and apply Nylon film vacuum bag and seal to mould surface. Check vacuum integrity.

* Autoclave curing - Load mould and apply vacuum in autoclave, load cure details and works order details in autoclave PC, select correct cure programme, select and apply thermocouples, carryout vacuum integrity check and cure. Routinely check cure trace throughout cycle.

* Air circulating oven - Load mould/component to oven, select correct programme on controller, apply vacuum, thermocouples, annotate cure trace with required details and start cure cycle. routinely check trace throughout cycle

* Assemble de-moulded component onto post cure fixture, clamp as detailed on drawing/spec, load to oven as above, at determined dwell remove from oven and adjust clamps to achieve final dimensions, re-load to oven and cure

* Remove from curing oven/autoclave. Carefully remove vacuum bag ensuring no damage to elements or laminate.

* Disassemble mould tools remove moulded part from mould and safe edge trim unit. Check resistances using multi-meter, check Insulation with "wet Brush" megger meter.

* Trim moulded component to pre-finished dimensions using hand/air tools

* Wet media vapour blast moulded surface to remove traces of release agent, carry-out water bead test.

About You:

* Basic Computer skills - Share-point.

* Experience of the following: Mould Preparation, Resin Mixing, Cloth Lay, Aeroweb/ Nomex core, Sensors and Connectors, Element Lay, Vacuum Bagging, Curing, Post Curing De-Bagging, Demoulding, Trim/ Drill and Dress, Surface preparation

* Able to read/ interpret engineering drawings, process specifications and work instructions.

* Work to and comply with HS&E requirements
