Transport Supervisor Required

Our client is seeking a Transport Supervisor on a Temp to Perm basis!

Rate of pay whilst on the T2P is £14.60ph on full time employment is £30,500

Hours of work are 8 hours a day preferably 06:00-14:00 however our client can be flexible and the start time can be earlier or later to fit around childcare or other needs.

Our clients 700+ strong team provides managed supply chain solutions for UK businesses, utilising our own fleet, plus our extensive network and relationships with key third party couriers.

Their fleet delivers over a million parcels per month, averaging over 45,000 a day, with greater than 98 per cent key performance indicator achievement against contracted lead times.

They operate over 550 vehicles, across 20 locations, offering logistic solutions nationwide.

Role Specification

Role Objective: To organise and control the day to day direct activities of the transport function on the shift you are covering

Summary of Role Responsibilities:

* Ensuring H&S and legal compliance around the role.

* Allocate vehicles and drivers to routes in accordance with transport plan

* Plan, organise and manage the work for all Truline transport staff and its customers

* Control driver resource including holiday allocation, absence cover and cost effective use of agency labour

* Understands and meets the company's Operating Licence obligations ensuring that appropriate controls and procedures are rigorously enforced

* Monitor daily driver hours including working time directive

* Responsibility for personnel, monitoring their progress and being their first point of contact should a problem arise

* Fully utilise the Transport Management System and associated platforms such as the HR System, FTA Vision, Entropy, Navman and the Licence Bureau to oversee and manage all aspects of compliance for the transport operation.

* Development of customer relationships, managing questions and complaints calmly and decisively

* Conducting investigations and accident investigations in co-operation with government agencies to determine causes of transportation accidents and to improve safety procedures and report findings to Transport Manager

* Any other duties as and when required by senior management

* Ability to work on own without being micromanaged - minimal supervision when required

* Responsibility to protect your own and your colleagues health from COVID-19 with daily checks and social distancing measures being applied and upheld.

Person Specification

QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE essential

* Full UK Driving licence

* Background in distribution and transport

QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE desirables

* CPC Qualification Road Haulage

* Planning software experience

* Class 1 C+E Licence

SKILLS/ ABILITIES

* Proven working knowledge of all legislation relating to all aspects of 'O' licence, RTD & WTD rules, regulations and undertakings

* Route planning

* Flexible approach to working hours

* Good IT skills - MS Outlook, Word, Excel essential

* Ability to work well within a team, and take direction from different people and ability to manage conflicting priorities

* Excellent time management skills
