The Head of Finance & Operations will lead the financial strategy, governance, and operational infrastructure of Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra, working closely with the Chief Executive and Board. Description

  • Lead all aspects of financial strategy, planning, reporting, and control
  • Act as a senior adviser to the Chief Executive and Board on financial, commercial, and risk matters
  • Oversee statutory compliance, governance, and company secretarial responsibilities
  • Lead and develop the Finance & Operations team, fostering a high-performance and supportive culture
  • Manage budgeting, forecasting, cash flow, balance sheet control, and year-end processes
  • Oversee key operational areas including IT strategy, contracts, suppliers, and risk management
  • Support funding negotiations and reporting with Arts Council England and other stakeholders
  • Play a key role in embedding new systems and supporting major strategic initiatives

Profile

  • Fully qualified accountant with significant senior finance leadership experience
  • Proven experience operating at SMT or Board level in a complex organisation
  • Strong commercial awareness with excellent financial control and reporting capabilities
  • Confident leader with experience developing teams and managing change
  • Comfortable working in partnership with external stakeholders, funders, and auditors
  • A values-driven professional with an appreciation for the arts, culture, and charitable impact

Job Offer

  • Salary: £65,000 - £75,000 depending on experience (relocation support considered)
  • Pension: 5% employer contribution with salary exchange option
