Primary Purpose of Job

The Senior Internal Communications Manager is responsible for injecting outstanding communications practice into the company and bringing the strategy and values to life. They will create the departmental strategy and influence the directorate strategy to drive engagement.

The post-holder will develop creative campaigns, create engaging copy and manage projects that encourage our people to feel proud to work for the company and keep them informed.

The role will also work to foster a two-way dialogue between leaders, managers and across the business so that our people feel their views are listened to and, where possible, acted upon.

Key Responsibilities

Create the companywide departmental strategy to ensure the companies messages land as effectively as possible, and the purpose and values are demonstrated appropriately and authentically

Develop internal channels to ensure our channels match with the needs and expectations of our people, and that we are continually adapting and improving.

Scope, develop and deliver industry-leading and creative campaigns, and adapt external campaigns for internal use where necessary.

Project manage the development and delivery of high-quality campaigns within agreed budget and timescales, creating clear briefs and contracting and working with agencies where necessary.

Lead the development of internal communications research to create insight-driven communications for internal audiences, and also ensure credible research undertaken by other leads is used as a tool for improvement.

Advise and influence senior leaders on their decisions, visibility and reputation within the business, and ensure a strong, consistent narrative is created and communicated; ensure purpose and values remain high on their radar.

Knowledge, Skills, Experience and Technical Qualifications

Degree or qualification in communications, journalism or a sister discipline essential.

First class expertise and knowledge of communication channels and their effectiveness, developed through several years of high performance in Internal Communications, PR or a similar business function.

Strong communication planning skills and spotting what's relevant and topical and ability to horizon scan to predict what will become important in the future.

Strong project management skills with a proven ability to plan and deliver complex and competing projects on-time and to budget.

First class writing and verbal skills, and an ability to make the complex simple. A high degree of accuracy and attention to detail often to tight timescales.

Strong influencing skills, including the ability and confidence to push back and challenge successfully - often colleagues who are more senior.

The ability to work within a matrix and manage stakeholders effectively
