The SEN Teaching Assistant role

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to support students across Key Stages 3, 4, or 5. Your role will involve providing 1:1 and small group support to pupils with a range of SEND needs, including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and speech and language difficulties. You'll help ensure that these students receive the tailored support they need to succeed both in and outside the classroom.

Key responsibilities as an SEN TA

• Support the learning and development of students with SEND across various subjects and key stages
• Collaborate with teachers and the SENCO to adapt lesson materials and activities
• Promote a nurturing, inclusive learning environment
• Monitor and report on student progress and well-being

• Experience working as an SEN Teaching Assistant within a school setting
• Understanding of ASD and speech and language needs
