Nations Info Corp ("NIC") is seeking a hands-on, results oriented leader for the Director of DevOps to join our technical team. This position will report to the CTO, and is responsible for all aspects of the company’s Java and Web application operations, monitoring and devops infrastructure. This position is a very hands-on role, requiring both strategic and operational skills and experience.

You will be responsible for optimizing our production environment, overseeing all aspects of billing operations, enhancing current database technology and administration and overseeing our Property Data Base (PDB) and internal IT teams. Manage the operations, releases, continuous integration and monitoring of our web-based production environment, which is a combination of on-premise equipment and cloud services. Improve the company’s production KPIs - uptime, site performance, reliability and costs.
Review and improve the company’s production application infrastructure, come up with strategic directional changes (such as cloud migration) and drive the implementation of the new architecture.
Manage monitoring and alerting processes and procedures to ensure actionable alerts are generated, operated on and problems eliminated before impacting customers.
Manage and drive processes around release management of web and Java application software
Be the front line in helping internal customers in trouble shooting production issues and create mechanisms for easy troubleshooting (such as log consolidation, visualization etc.).
Skills & Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or higher in an Engineering related discipline, with proven experience offsetting degree
3+ year’s experience managing small Java Web application operations team, at a hands-on level
4+ years of hands on experience in managing Java Web Applications (TomCat, JBoss, WebLogic or Resin), including production trouble shooting, administration, release management, handling escalations, customer communications, monitoring (New Relic or AppDynamics) and high availability configuration management functions.
Desired Experience in creating roadmap and directing teams in migrating production and non-production infrastructure from on premise to cloud hosted environment. Preferably, on AWS cloud solution.
Excellent understanding of database technology and administration, and good hands on experience with SQL to analyze root causes and issues. Familiarity with reporting vs. transactional databases, sharding, spatial databases, and NoSQL.
Excellent communication skills demonstrating the ability to clearly articulate information verbally, and in writing, including the ability to translate technical materials, conduct effective meetings, and convey information at all levels of the organization, as well as with external teams.
Desired skill: Prior experience in managing technical operations (network, servers, VPN access) and IT help desk (Window Desktop PC management, directing help desk team, create remote device management policies and strategies).
Desired skill: Prior experience in Card Not Present payment processing and subscription.
