Teaching Assistant - Special Educational Needs (SEN)

Location: Southampton

Hourly Rate: £13.75

Contract: Term Time Only (Monday to Friday)

Age Range: Pupils aged 4 to 19 years

An established Special Educational Needs (SEN) school in Southampton is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant to join its committed team. The school provides tailored education and support for children and young people aged 4 to 19 with a wide range of additional needs.

This is an excellent opportunity for individuals looking to make a meaningful impact in the lives of young people while working in a supportive and professional educational environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide in-class support to pupils with a variety of SEN, under the direction of the class teacher.

Assist with the delivery of individual education plans (IEPs) and support personalised learning strategies.

Offer personal care and behaviour support where necessary, in line with school policies.

Contribute to the creation of a safe, nurturing, and inclusive learning environment.

Work collaboratively with teaching staff, therapists, and external agencies to support pupil progress.

Candidate Requirements:

Previous experience working with children or young people, particularly those with SEN, is desirable but not essential.

A calm, patient, and empathetic approach to working with pupils with complex needs.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

A strong commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all pupils.

Willingness to undertake relevant training and professional development.
