Transport Operations Manager – Containers

Salary: £55,000 – £60,000

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage a team of planners and drivers, ensuring seamless day-to-day operations
• Develop and deliver efficient, customer-focused transport plans with optimal resource use
• Act as the primary escalation point for operational issues, maintaining calm under pressure
• Ensure all driver scheduling complies with legal requirements and working hours regulations
• Oversee accurate system updates and clear customer communications
• Monitor and improve VBS booking processes for cost control and efficiency
• Keep planning records up to date for audits and reporting
• Serve as the operational go-to within the management team

What You’ll Bring

• Valid Transport Manager CPC qualification
• 3–5 years’ experience in container transport operations management
• Strong understanding of driver hours regulations and transport legislation
• Proven ability to manage teams across planning and driver operations
• Experience with TOPS or similar transport management systems
• Confident user of MS Office or Google Workspace tools
