Engineer / Scientist to work with Photonics organization at SUNY Polytechnic to oversee MBE processing of Quantum Dot lasers that will be integrated with our existing silicon photonics platform.

MBE engineer should be able to operate the MBE tool and be able to develop film deposition related to integration of QD lasers on silicon. A thorough knowledge of III-V materials and processing and characterization is essential. Candidate should understand tool operation and be able to debug issues related to MBE deposition. A thorough understand of Laser device physics is essential.

The primary duty of the MBE engineer will be to operate / oversee operation of an MBE reactor and ensure the development of lasers integrated on SUNY's silicon photonics platform. It is necessary that he or she be able to guide the integration team on best practices of integration III-V materials with silicon. Candidate should be able to support the development of laser technology that will result in products used for commercial customers ultimately. A thorough knowledge of tool operation and mechanics is required.

The candidate must work well in a team environment and be able to work with other engineers to achieve the end goal of integrated laser technology on a silicon photonics platform. Patents and papers on the subject are encouraged. Other reasonable duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:

A Ph.D in Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Physics, Electrical or equivalent Engineering and/or Science discipline from a college or University accredited by the USDOE or internationally recognized accrediting organization.
