Job Overview

The Business and Operations Manager is responsible for leading and managing the organisation's business and operational functions, ensuring the effective delivery of high-quality support services. The role plays a key part in enabling teaching and learning by ensuring that systems, processes and resources are efficient, compliant and aligned with strategic priorities.
The postholder will promote a culture of collaboration, accountability and continuous improvement, building strong working relationships with both internal and external stakeholders. This role requires a proactive and solutions-focused individual who can contribute to a positive, inclusive and high-performing working environment.

Key Responsibilities

Lead and manage business and operational functions to ensure effective and efficient service delivery.
Develop and maintain systems and processes that support organisational priorities and ensure compliance with relevant regulations.
Provide leadership and direction to support staff, fostering a culture where teams feel valued, motivated and empowered.
Build and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
Oversee operational planning and contribute to strategic development.
Ensure compliance across all areas of responsibility, maintaining accurate records and implementing best practice.
Monitor and evaluate operational performance, identifying opportunities for improvement.
Promote collaboration and the sharing of effective practice across teams.
Support the creation of a positive and inclusive working environment where staff and students can succeed.

Person Specification

Essential

Experience in a business, operations or school business management role.
Strong leadership and people management skills.
Excellent organisational and communication skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver results to deadlines.
Strong understanding of compliance, systems and operational processes.
Ability to build effective relationships with a range of stakeholders.
Proactive and solutions-focused approach.
Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people.
Desirable

Experience working within an educational environment.
Relevant professional qualification in business management or leadership.
Experience of contributing to strategic planning and organisational development.
