The Learning Support Assistant Role:
As a Learning Support Assistant, you will be supporting teaching and learning in the classroom and assisting with managing challenging behaviour. You will also provide academic support, both on a 1:1 basis and in small groups. As a Learning Support Assistant, you will also work closely with the pastoral team to implement effective intervention strategies to assist with supporting wellbeing and managing patterns of challenging behaviour.
The Learning Support Assistant:
To be eligible for this Learning Support Assistant role, you must have experience working with young people who present challenging behaviours and have SEMH needs. Ideally, you will have a Level 3 Learning Support Assistant qualification and will have worked in an Alternative Provision (or similar setting such as a PRU) previously. You must have a strong, resilient personality to enable you to have effective behaviour management, and be able to build a good rapport with the pupils you are working with.
The School:
This Alternative Provision located in West Birmingham caters for pupils in KS3 and KS4 who have left mainstream education due to challenging behaviour, SEMH needs and SEN that cannot be supported by a mainstream setting.
