This is an exciting opportunity for an engineer to join a small, fast moving team working on cutting edge electrification technology. The work will include concept and prototype design, through to detailing of products for low, medium and high-volume production. They must have the ability to analyse designs using various CAE tools. They must work well as part of a team but also be capable of self-management able to deliver high quality work to what can be tight deadlines

Job Role:

* Clean-sheet mechanical design and development of power electronics enclosures, heat exchangers, pumps, fans, and rotating electric machines

* 3D CAD modelling and 2D Engineering drawings of components and assemblies.

* Mechanical/Thermal/Fluid analysis of conceptual designs and build and test of prototype hardware.

* Work autonomously and as part of a small, fast moving multi-disciplined team to assess requirements, meet objectives and achieve project goals.

* Work with other design engineers and the wider cross functional team to company quality standards.

The successful candidate must have demonstrable experience in all of the areas below:

* Creation of high-quality 3D models and assemblies using Solidworks or similar CAD tool.

* Use of hand calculations and appropriate analysis software (ANSYS (Mechanical, ICEpak, Fluent, Sherlock), MATLAB etc.) to validate designs.

* Production of high quality 2D engineering drawings, for both manufacture and assembly, to BS8888.

* Design, development and delivery of prototype/low volume components and related tooling.

* Appropriate selection of materials, manufacturing processes and design for manufacture principles.

* Knowledge of design analysis skills such as Design for Manufacturing Assembly, DFMEA & PFMEA,

* Hands-on assembly of prototype hardware and ability to understand technical requirements and their influence on design

* BSc (Hons) in Mechanical, Product Design, Motor sport or Automotive engineering as a minimum

It would be great if you also have the following:

* Experience with Solidworks & ANSYS, power electronics, rotating electric machines or turbomachinery

* Packaging of electronic components and assemblies in mechanical enclosures.

* Heat exchanger sizing and design

* Good understanding and experience of working with a wide variety of materials and manufacturing processes

* Experience of BOM creation and management and liaising with suppliers/manufacturers
