We have an opportunity for an experienced Assistant Project Manager to join our team delivering clean water mains renewal projects. This role plays a key part in ensuring works are delivered safely, efficiently and to a high standard, while maintaining strong performance across programme, quality and cost.
The Role
As Assistant Project Manager, you'll take ownership of project delivery from planning through to completion. You'll lead site teams and subcontractors, ensuring works are well coordinated, compliant and delivered in line with programme requirements.
Working in a fast-paced environment, you'll manage a range of activities including temporary works and deep excavations, while ensuring all site operations meet safety and regulatory standards. You'll also maintain close communication with clients, stakeholders and internal teams to ensure projects run smoothly.

- Leading and coordinating site teams and subcontractors to deliver project objectives
- Managing project programmes, drawings and construction documentation
- Ensuring works are delivered safely, on time and within budget
- Preparing and reviewing RAMS and managing permit requirements
- Overseeing complex site activities including temporary works and deep excavations
- Monitoring site performance, reporting progress and addressing risks or issues
- Maintaining strong communication with clients, stakeholders and internal teams
- Ensuring full compliance with HSEQ standards and company procedures
We would love to hear from you if…
You have proven experience in an Assistant Project Manager role within utilities, civil engineering or infrastructure, with a strong understanding of clean water or pipeline projects. You will be confident managing site activities, coordinating teams and working within NEC contract environments.
You'll bring strong organisational and leadership skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and drive performance on site. Experience interpreting drawings, managing subcontractors and maintaining compliance with HSEQ standards is essential.
You will hold relevant industry certifications such as SMSTS or SSSTS, NRSWA Supervisor, Water Hygiene, CSCS and First Aid. Experience in temporary works, deep excavations and underground service detection is also important.
You should be confident using IT systems, with strong Excel capability and experience in reporting and data analysis. Knowledge of tools such as Power BI would be advantageous.
A full UK driving licence is essential.
