Job Description

The Respiratory Therapist (RT) is responsible for the performance and tracking of all professional respiratory service functions within the assigned centers. The RT educates staff, patients and healthcare providers in the function of respiratory equipment and must communicate instructions accurately to ensure patient safety and compliance. The RT generates sales through effective and efficient sales and marketing efforts, and develops information on local managed care organizations and affiliations. Maintaining confidentiality of HIPAA compliance is also required.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide education and support on all equipment as set out above to patient, center staff and referral sources
  • Complete daily activities as assigned in sufficient quantity to achieve a high level of work productivity within the center
  • Set up clinical equipment and provide complete patient instruction according to established policy and procedure
  • Complete follow-up contact and documentation, including Plans of Care, in accordance with company guidelines
  • Assist Customer Service Representative in collection of data for respiratory patients
  • Ensure all required paperwork is accurately and thoroughly completed at the time of set up
  • Obtain all information from patients at time of delivery as requested by Center staff
  • Assist with cleaning, inspection and packaging of respiratory therapy equipment in Center
  • Participate, as required, in On-Call shifts and respond promptly to On-Call personnel
  • Assist in the operation of the center when necessary to serve walk-up patients or a high volume of incoming calls
  • Participate in all scheduled staff meetings and in-services
  • Complete all job functions in a safe, orderly, courteous, and manner
  • Timely completion of all mandated compliance trainin
  • Uphold the standards set in the code of Ethics and Business Conduct guide
  • Maintain compliance with Federal healthcare regulations
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Associate (AA/AS) degree or higher from accredited college or university
  • Currently licensed RRT, or CRTT; may consider other exempted licensed person whose training, State license and scope of practice includes respiratory care
  • Must possess a valid RCP license and current/valid NBRC credential
  • Working experience as a respiratory care professional preferred
  • Valid driver's license with no moving violations or accidents in last 36 months
  • Must not have ever been excluded or debarred from participation in Federal Healthcare Programs at any time
  • Dependable transportation
  • Flexibility to work different shifts, on call, nights and weekends
