The position is responsible for the effective day-to-day management, coordination and development of all stores, goods in, goods out, yard and associated logistics activities across the business.
This role is focused on operational delivery. It provides hands-on management of the Warehouse and Dispatch teams, ensuring materials flow efficiently to support production schedules, customer delivery requirements and overall business performance.
The Warehouse & Logistics Manager is responsible for maintaining high standards of safety, stock accuracy, housekeeping, service levels and continuous improvement within their area of responsibility. While the role involves close collaboration with production, procurement, quality, technical and sales teams, it does not form part of the Senior Leadership Team and operates within the framework and direction set by senior management.

Key Duties
• Provide clear leadership and direction to the warehouse and logistic teams
• Take ownership for standards, performance, behaviour and culture within the warehouse & logistics function
• Actively identify, drive and embed continuous improvement initiatives across warehouse and logistics operations
• Ensure team members are trained, supported and developed, with clear expectations and accountability
• Plan and allocate labour and resources effectively to meet daily operational demands
• Communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels of the organisation
• Lead by example, maintaining a visible presence across operational areas
• Ensure Health & Safety standards are upheld at all times within areas of responsibility

Stores & Inventory
• Maintain overall ownership of stock accuracy, ensuring physical stock aligns with Sage system records
• Set and enforce high housekeeping and organisation standards across all warehousing and logistics areas
• Ensure formal material requisition processes are consistently followed
• Coordinate closely with production and procurement to support smooth material flow
• Implement and maintain:
• Picking lists and forward picking
• Bill of Materials (BOM) kitting processes
• Kanban systems
• Efficient stores layouts and space utilisation
• Ensure production overs are correctly returned to stock and communicated to relevant managers
• Identify and report excess, slow-moving or obsolete stock
• Ensure bulk stock levels are maintained in designated storage areas
• Own stores documentation, reporting and procedural compliance
• Drive ongoing improvements to stores efficiency and effectiveness

Warehouse and Logistics
• Provide full operational leadership of all inbound and outbound logistics activities, ensuring the accurate, safe and timely movement of materials and finished goods to support production and customer requirements
• Plan, coordinate and allocate labour, equipment and materials across Goods Inwards and Despatch to meet daily operational demand
• Set and maintain clear standards for accuracy, quality, housekeeping and Health & Safety within all logistics areas
• Ensure all incoming goods are checked against purchase orders and delivery documentation, with discrepancies or damage promptly identified, recorded and escalated
• Ensure Goods Received Notes (GRNs) are accurately raised and processed on Sage
• Ensure all materials are correctly located within stores and managed in line with FIFO principles
• Maintain oversight of outbound logistics to ensure customer orders are picked, packed and despatched on time and in accordance with customer specific, quality and packaging requirements
• Oversee delivery documentation, transport and carrier arrangements to ensure efficient and compliant despatch
• Ensure packing work instructions are followed, effective and maintained
• Work closely with Procurement to ensure sufficient packing materials are available
• Proactively identify risks, defects, delays or inefficiencies within inbound and outbound processes
• Take ownership of corrective actions and drive continuous improvement to improve service levels, accuracy and operational efficiency

Skills, Experience & Leadership Capability
Essential
• Proven experience in a warehousing, stores or logistics environment within a fast moving manufacturing environment
• Demonstrable experience leading or supervising teams
• Strong leadership, communication and organisational skills
• Ability to plan, prioritise and manage workload effectively
• High attention to detail with strong numerical and literacy skills
• Experience using warehouse management or ERP systems (e.g. Sage)
• Confident user of Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook
• Ability to influence, engage and drive continuous improvement
