A leading IT services provider is delivering a managed service to a high-profile defence client based in Stevenage and is looking for a UC Collaboration Engineer to join their onsite team. This is a hands-on technical role supporting and maintaining Cisco Collaboration Rooms, AV technologies, and Unified Communications platforms.

In addition to your primary responsibilities, you may occasionally be required to backfill the UC Voice Specialist role, providing broader support across Microsoft Teams, Skype for Business, and Cisco Unified Communications technologies.

Key Responsibilities

Unified Communications & Collaboration

*

Support and manage Cisco Collaboration Rooms and UC/AV platforms (Webex, IP Phones, conferencing systems).

*

Configure and troubleshoot AV equipment (displays, microphones, speakers, control systems).

*

Monitor system performance and proactively resolve issues before user impact.

*

Provide hands-on support and training to end users on UC and AV systems.

UC Voice Specialist (Backfill Support)

*

Support Microsoft Teams and Skype for Business environments, including Direct Routing and Voice integration.

*

Configure and manage Cisco UC platforms (CUCM, CUBE, UCCX), SIP, and H.323.

*

Maintain and administer Session Border Controllers (Cisco, Ribbon, AudioCodes).

*

Troubleshoot UC/network-related issues across switches, routers, firewalls, and QoS configurations.

Stakeholder Engagement & Continuous Improvement

*

Collaborate with internal teams and stakeholders to meet technical requirements.

*

Lead initiatives to improve collaboration room performance and AV experience.

*

Ensure compliance with company and national security standards.

*

Stay current on emerging UC and collaboration technologies to enhance service delivery.

Requirements

Essential Skills & Experience

*

Advanced experience with Cisco Collaboration tools (Webex, IP Phones, video conferencing).

*

Strong hands-on AV skills—setup, support, and troubleshooting of audio-visual systems.

*

Solid understanding of Microsoft Teams, Skype for Business, and voice integration.

*

Strong technical knowledge of Cisco UC infrastructure (CUCM, CUBE, UCCX) and protocols (SIP/H.323).

*

Familiarity with Session Border Controllers and enterprise VoIP solutions.

*

Ability to manage and document complex UC environments.

*

Excellent problem-solving, interpersonal, and communication skills.

Desirable Certifications (Not Essential)

*

Cisco Certified Collaboration Specialist

*

Microsoft Teams Voice Certification (MS-700 or similar)

*

AVIXA CTS (Certified Technology Specialist)

*

ITIL Foundation

Physical & Working Requirements

*

Ability to lift up to 25kg (e.g., AV/conferencing hardware).

*

Comfortable working at height (ladders/raised platforms) and in office or data centre environments.

*

Manual dexterity for small components, wiring, and tools.
