We are partnering with a well-established and respected law firm in Chichester, founded in 1993, to recruit a Trusts and Probate Solicitor to join their private client team. The firm is known for its high standards of client care and professional excellence, with a loyal and expanding client base.
About the Role
As a Trusts and Probate Solicitor, you will manage a varied and interesting caseload, including:
- Probate and estate administration, dealing with estates ranging from straightforward cases below the inheritance tax threshold to complex taxable estates requiring completion of IHT400 forms and related schedules, including advising on appropriate tax reliefs
- Administration of intestate estates, applying detailed knowledge of intestacy rules and procedures
- Advising on trusts, including lifetime trusts and trusts arising under wills, with an understanding of the tax principles affecting trusts both at creation and throughout their lifetime
- Handling life interest and discretionary trusts, including the administration and potential collapse of discretionary trusts where applicable during estate administration
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate will:
- Have at least 3 years' post-qualification experience in Trusts and Probate or a closely related field
- Be a qualified solicitor, with STEP membership preferred or a willingness to work towards it
- Demonstrate strong technical knowledge combined with excellent client communication and interpersonal skills, able to support a diverse client base including elderly clients and high-net-worth individuals
- Be proactive, well-organised, and capable of managing a varied workload independently, while collaborating effectively with the team
- Possess strong IT skills and adaptability to a fast-paced environment
