Manage the review and delivery of all aspects of the design of the Traction Substation project. This is predominately general design management however the primary skill set is MEP with an electrical bias. This includes management of programme, budget and the compliance of the design for the HS2 Project, to achieve a high quality, safe, compliant, and timely design at the lowest reasonable cost. The project includes the reprovision of a Traction Substation, experience of managing an LU project is required, it would be preferred if there is a good overview knowledge of HV as well as LV, and an appreciation of traction power design. The project also includes a tunnel ventilation system.

Key responsibilities

For all TSS/HS2/LU Station Scope:

1. Manage the MEP including the traction power design delivery as set out in the HS2 Engage platform. Including supporting the development of an integrated design programme through RIBA 5, so scope is packaged to support procurement & construction needs, and deliverables are issued as necessary for the stakeholders
2. Review the MEP design consultants and CDP contractors electrical design deliverables and provide comment regarding good design process, adherence to the Design Responsibility Matrix, integration with other disciplines and technical appropriateness of the solutions shown
3. Assist in the development of the MEP BIM Model, providing comment on the appropriateness of the solutions shown with regard to constructability and commissionability. Liaise with Consultants/Designers and support consistent and compliant solutions for fire and acoustic stopping and treatment.
4. Review designs regarding compliance against LU and other appropriate rail requirements
5. Support the development of the design to achieve a safe, buildable, operational and maintainable asset. Engage the Construction Team/Early Works Contractor.
6. Lead by example demonstrating a culture of collaborative working.
7. Actively engage with the quality team to provide all necessary documentation for technical sign-off of the MEP design as is required through the contract. Support the Assurance team with HS2 sign off process and provide a leading role with Traction Substation QICC process and sign off
8. Support Sustainability Manager
9. Provide support to the project controls process including - change control, RFI's, risk management, contract notices/EWN's and progress and cost reporting
10. Lead process with an uncompromising commitment to safety, and collaborate with Principal Designer HS2 Ltd
11. Liaise and coordinate with TSS/HS2/LU MEP Project Manager
12. Liaise and coordinate with Technical Leads
