Health & Safety Advisor - Maternity Cover (9 Month FTC)

SCINERGY Recruitment are recruiting for a Health & Safety Advisor to join a biomass power plant in Sandwich, Kent on a 9-month fixed-term contract to provide maternity cover.

This role is responsible for leading all site health and safety activities, ensuring legislative compliance, maintaining strong governance standards and embedding a culture of continuous improvement across the facility. The successful candidate will work closely with the Plant Manager and operational teams to maintain high standards of safety and compliance across site.

The role will involve:

* Leading site compliance with UK Health & Safety legislation and internal governance standards

* Monitoring and improving H&S performance against site KPIs

* Updating local procedures and ensuring associated risk assessments are suitable and effective

* Chairing bi-monthly H&S meetings, recording minutes and allocating actions

* Leading and supporting incident and accident investigations, ensuring root cause analysis and implementation of learning

* Producing detailed incident and accident reports

* Carrying out site walks, audits and compliance inspections

* Reviewing internal reporting systems for observations, near misses and incidents

* Maintaining the site action tracker and ensuring timely close-out of corrective actions

* Providing practical H&S guidance and support to operational teams

* Liaising with clients and regulatory bodies where required

* Assisting with fuel inspections when necessary

* Maintaining high standards of health, safety and environmental compliance across site

To be considered for this role, you should have:

* A NEBOSH or IOSH qualification as a minimum

* Experience working within an industrial or process environment such as biomass, CHP, power generation, steel making, paper production, cement etc

* Strong working knowledge of UK HSE legislation

* Experience leading incident investigations and compliance audits

* Ability to work independently within a live operational environment

* Strong communication skills and confidence challenging where required

* Competent IT skills, including Microsoft Office
