Company: SOCODE LIMITED

Job Type: Permanent, Full Time

Are you a hands-on engineer with a passion for testing, validating, and improving mechanical systems? A rapidly growing technical company is seeking a Mechanical Test Engineer to join its dynamic team and contribute to a diverse range of cutting-edge projects across various high-performance sectors.

In this role, you'll take the lead in mechanical and environmental testing of components and systems. You'll be responsible for designing, setting up, and operating bespoke test rigs and instrumentation tailored to specific engineering challenges. Collaboration is key—you'll work closely with both design and development teams to analyse test results and help refine product performance.
Your work will include creating clear and detailed technical reports, ensuring stakeholders have accurate, actionable insights based on your findings. You'll also be instrumental in maintaining the test lab's equipment, supporting safety procedures, and ensuring compliance with relevant quality standards.

To be successful, you'll need a degree or equivalent qualification in Mechanical Engineering or a related field, along with practical experience in mechanical testing, vibration analysis, or environmental validation. A strong understanding of data acquisition systems, sensors, and instrumentation—such as strain gauges and thermocouples—is essential. Just as important are your problem-solving skills, your ability to remain analytical under pressure, and your confidence in communicating complex technical details.

❓ If you have worked on microfluidic components, you'll feel right at home tackling the kind of precision-focused engineering challenges this role involves.
❓ If you have worked with LabView or Python for test automation or data acquisition, your skills will be put to immediate and valuable use.

You'll be joining a small, agile team that operates at the forefront of mechanical innovation. This is an opportunity to work in a challenging and varied role where your ideas and initiative will directly shape the success of exciting, high-impact projects. The environment is collaborative and technically focused, with real room for professional growth.

The business can offer a competitive salary between £50,000 - £65,000 (dependant on experience) and will be fully onsite in their state of the art labs in Cambridge.
