Why It's a Great Opportunity The chance to join the Pierce County Planning and Public Works Sewer Division team in a supervisory role in wastewater operations is the next likely step in any Operator's career path. This position offers a broad range of responsibilities critical to the success of Pierce County's Chambers Creek Regional Wastewater Treatment Plant and the Cascadia Wastewater Treatment Plant at Tehaleh. This position will allow daily collaboration with staff and peers in providing guidance and methods for expediting workflow for treatment plant operations while also growing as a successful leader within Pierce County. Our Next Successful Team Member Can Look Forward To Supervising the work of one or more operators, maintenance workers or other staff as assigned to operate the wastewater treatment plants and their related facilities and equipment. Scheduling and prioritizing work at the treatment facilities. Determining appropriate methods, materials, and equipment required to perform necessary operation, maintenance and repair work. Supervising and coordinating the activities of designated personnel; determining work procedures, preparing work schedules and determining methods for expediting workflow; assigning, reviewing and evaluating the work of staff. Providing direction, assistance, and guidance; training and instructing staff; and conducting performance evaluations including goal setting and employee plans of action. Identifying problem areas within wastewater treatment facilities and providing comprehensive and effective solutions. Our Next Successful Team Should Possess The Following Principles and procedures used in the operation and maintenance of a major wastewater treatment plant and related facilities; Understanding of state and federal regulations as they affect the operation of the wastewater facility. The ability to use software systems, spreadsheet software and computers at a proficient level; The ability to coordinate and supervise the work of staff engaged in wastewater treatment and related maintenance support activities; The ability to formulate, communicate, and manage budgets for utilities, chemicals, materials and maintenance parts. The ability to write reports that are clear and concise, interpret treatment process data and prepare analysis as required. Out next successful team member will have: A High school diploma (or equivalent) and a minimum of two (2) years of continuing education at a trade school or community college in wastewater treatment or a related field. At least four (4) years of increasingly responsible work experience. At least 2 years' experience in a lead Operator role.
