About the Role:

We are seeking a highly experienced and passionate Children's Registered Manager to oversee the day-to-day operations of a children's residential home in Birmingham. This is a vital leadership position responsible for delivering outstanding care and support to children and young people in line with Ofsted regulations and the Children's Homes Regulations 2015.

Key Responsibilities:

Ensure the home is fully compliant with Ofsted regulations and standards

Lead on successful Ofsted registration and ensure continuous readiness for inspections

Manage, motivate and develop a team of staff to provide the highest quality care

Oversee care planning, safeguarding, risk assessments, and behaviour management strategies

Maintain accurate records and ensure all documentation meets regulatory requirements

Liaise effectively with local authorities, external professionals, and families

Promote a positive and nurturing environment for children as young as aged 8-17 with complex needs, emotional and/or behavioural difficulties

Drive continuous improvement across the home and develop a culture of excellence and accountability

Candidate Requirements:

Minimum 10 years' experience working with children in residential care, with at least 3 years in a senior or managerial position

Strong knowledge and understanding of Ofsted regulations, children's legislation, and safeguarding practices

Proven experience in compliance, audits, and successful Ofsted applications

Level 5 Diploma in Leadership & Management for Residential Childcare (or equivalent)

Excellent leadership, communication, and organisational skills

Ability to work under pressure and deliver results in a regulated environment

Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain one) and satisfactory references

Desirable:

Experience opening or registering a new children's home

Background in therapeutic or trauma-informed care settings

Familiarity with Birmingham local authority processes
